What may happen at a preventive visit

The exact combination depends on current findings and risk. A healthy continuing-care visit is different from an appointment for bleeding gums, pain or a new concern.

How often should I have an examination or cleaning?

There is no single interval for everyone. Your dentist and hygienist consider caries risk, periodontal health, medical history, previous treatment and how quickly deposits or inflammation return.

Are dental radiographs required at every visit?

No. The type and timing of images should be based on your age, current findings, symptoms, previous disease and the information needed for diagnosis.
